Training Services for NJ Foster/Adoptive Parents
FAFS training is available to all licensed resource parents, through a contract with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. County-Based Workshops, Home Correspondence Courses, and Train-Online are Free for all New Jersey licensed resource families.
All others are eligible to take FAFS training at a nominal fee.

Our training staff provides relevant, easily accessible, and convenient training through our PROJECT access training program.

Our local Volunteer Committees occasionally offer in-service training hours for New Jersey resource parents through presentations by experts in various fields.

Our training is relevant and specific to the needs of our families and the children they serve. FAFS does offer some Spanish trainings.

FAFS maintains a Training Transcript for all trainings we offer.

FAFS' Training Department serves numerous functions to the foster and adoptive community. Our primary responsibilities include:

• FAFS Training Online. Bridging time and distance, you will be able to take courses online at a time that is convenient for you. At this time, this service is ONLY available to licensed resource parents. Completion of each course will give you 2 hours towards maintaining your license.

•Home Correspondence Courses. Home Correspondence Courses are educational pamphlets accompanied by informational booklet, and review questions.

•County Based Trainings.
These trainings are given in each county once per year for all licensed resource parents. Participation in these workshops will give you 3 hours of in-service training towards maintaining your license.

•Alternative In-Service Training. These trainings are held at the Volunteer Committee/Affiliate meetings. It's a great way to receive in-service training hours in addition to connecting with other resource parents in your county Schedules for these trainings are posted on the FAFS website and in your regional quarterly newsletter which will be mailed to you.

If you are in need of special accommodations to participate in any of FAFS trainings, please contact us at
