Understanding Child Development: Helping Children Become All They Can Be!
Understanding Child Development:Helping Children Become All They Can Be:

This highly interactive workshop employs a range of participant focused activities to explore the developmental journey children take, accomplishing necessary skills and abilities as they grow. It also looks at the important role Resource Parents play in facilitating the development of those skills and abilities and alerting others to developmental delays, suspected or real, in the child in their care, thereby ensuring the child gets the developmental help he or she needs as early as possible. The course focuses primarily on development from birth to age twelve, but additional information will be made available to add clarity to the issues of adolescent developmental.

From X-ray Vision Carrots to BMI’s, Dealing with Childhood Obesity
From X-ray Vision Carrots to BMI’s, Dealing with Childhood Obesity:

This workshop will explore the growing concern among parents and caregivers of childhood obesity and what roles they can play in the child’s weight loss and lifestyle change. To begin, we will look at the causes of obesity in this country and the negative impact it has on children’s health. Then we will explore ways you can get your child involved in exercise, how you can get him/her to eat fruit and vegetables, including some recipes for camouflaging them with other foods, and the process for calculating the body mass index of the child. Among the skills we will be practicing will be checking nutrition labels, protecting your child’s self esteem, and finding physical activities for your child that are a good fit for him/her.
