TAD - Tobacco, Alcohol, & Drugs Children 9yrs old and older are invited to attend!
Telling children and young people to JUST SAY NO to drugs is not enough. They should be encouraged to reject drugs because they believe that it is the right thing to do, not just because they have been told to say no. This workshop will provide a safe and encouraging environment supporting foster parents and adoptive parents in their efforts to talk and keep talking to their children. Parents will gain a clear unerstanding of the challenges that children in placement face as we openly and honestly discuss tobacco, alcohol and drug addictions, including the use of substances such as inhalants and steroids. The children will explore the differences between wise and unwise choices and will be given the opportunity to practice prevention techniques to successfully resist the use of TAD. This program contains some graphic images of the effects of drug use and may be disturbing to some audience members. Children from the age of nine are invited to take part in this county-based workshop; please call to register your kids, however, you need not bring a child to participate! 3 hrs. in-service training credit - Registration for this workshop is requested!

On Solid Ground: Permanency Planning For Children in Care
This workshop will not only look at the available methods and procedures used for achieving permanency in the life of a child in care, but, also explores the critical psychological and social impact on a child when permanency is not achieved within a reasonable time frame. The course also addresses the role of the resource parent as an advocate for permanency and offers insights into the resulting feelings of loss that may be present when a child achieves a permanent home with someone other than the resource parent who has been involved with the child's care. 3 hrs in-service training credit - Registration for this workshop is suggested!
