FAFS foster adoptive & kinship parent training is available to all licensed resource parents through a contract with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. County-Based Workshops, Home Correspondence Courses and Online Training are free for all New Jersey licensed resource families. All others are eligible to take FAFS training at a nominal fee.
Our free foster adoptive & kinship parent training is relevant and specific to the needs of our families and the children they serve. Topics are designed to help you take the best care of the children in your home while meeting your in-service training hours licensing requirements.
NJ Foster Adoptive & Kinship Parent (Resource Parent) Licensing Requirements: Primary Provider - 7 hours annually or 21 hours over a 3 year licensing cycle; Secondary Provider - 5 hours annually or 15 hours over a 3 year licensing cycle.
Please note: FAFS in-service training allows current NJ resource parents to maintain their license. For information on PRIDE training for potential resource parents, which FAFS does not currently offer, please click here.
