RESOURCE PARENT MENTOR

Heart to Heart is a mentoring program for resource parents connecting experienced resource parents with resource parents who may be in need of extra support. Mentors will share their personal experiences with assigned mentees, providing a listening ear and encouragement.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIRED

• Knowledgeable of the New Jersey child welfare system
• Must be licensed through the Division of Child Protection and Permanency for a minimum of 2 years
• At least one year of experience as a NJ licensed resource parent
• Highly organized and detailed-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a working email address and check email regularly
• Completion of FAFS’ Heart to Heart Mentor training

FAFS VOLUNTEER CHAIR

FAFS’ Connecting Families programs provide resource parents with an opportunity to receive direct support from their peers. Our community-based groups plan and facilitate recreational activities where resource families can come together to share resource parenting tips, encourage one another and take part in an enjoyable experience for the entire family. Additionally, group meetings may occur to provide additional opportunities for resource parents to connect. FAFS’ Volunteer Chair is responsible for planning and facilitating all activities for their assigned county/region.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIRED

• Knowledgeable of the New Jersey child welfare system
• Highly organized and detailed-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be a current Friend of FAFS (formerly FAFS Premium Member)
• Must have a working email address and check email regularly

RESOURCE PARENT SPEAKERS BUREAU

FAFS’ Resource Parent Speakers Bureau participates in various speaking engagements throughout New Jersey to share their personal experiences as licensed resource parents in an effort to assist the Division of Child Protection & Permanency in recruiting and retaining resource homes.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIRED

• Knowledgeable of the New Jersey child welfare system
• At least one year of experience as a NJ licensed resource parent
• Highly organized and detailed-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
